19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his first trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
His defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He saved 4 initial chances in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
